Brookings Visitor Guide
Project Background
The Brookings Visitor Guide had previously been done through the local newspaper because it was easy to get it designed and printed there. When the paper temporarily shut down, Visit Brookings decided to go a different route and completely rework the visitor guide for 2026.
Design Style
One of the first things to change was the style that they wanted the guide to showcase. They wanted it to be fun, eye-catching and less cluttered. We ended up going with a scrapbook feel for the 2026 guide. One of the main reasons this design style was chosen was because scrapbooking and documenting family travels is something that mainly mothers do. With the target audience being moms, it felt like a great fit for the Brookings Visitor Guide.
New Additions To The 2026 Guide
When Visit Brookings decided to go a new direction with the 2026 Visitor Guide, they didn’t just want to change the style of it. They also decided to go with a new size, and throw in three accordion fold-out inserts which featured articles written by students from SDSU. These inserts featured the full scrapbooking style through out.
