Brookings Visitor Guide
The Brookings Visitor Guide was a totally new book in 2026. Previously done by the local newspaper, the guide was much simpler and the design was busier. In 2026, the goal was to simplify, add new elements, and incorporate a fun design.
We went with a scrapbook-style design, added three 8-page accordion fold inserts, and simplified the overall layout.
Two of the three inserts that were incorporated into the 2026 Visitor Guide featured Student Stories written by students from South Dakota State University. The third was used as the business directory for the town. Including these three accordion-style inserts freed up space in the rest of the visitor guide and allowed the layouts within that to be less crowded and better designed.

The clients wanted the back page to be fun but also useful. We incorporated the same scrapbook elements that were seen throughout the rest of the guide into the back page design and added a spot for potential visitors to make notes or list the things they wanted to do while visiting Brookings.
